The hardest part about being in a relationship is finding the time to spend with each other. Both of you might lead busy lives, work tiring jobs and have other commitments with family and friends to tend to. Date night is a perfect solution to that. You can keep one day of the week aside just to pop some popcorn, light a few scented candles, snuggle in with your favourite blanket, sit back and let yourselves be entertained! We put together a list of 10 movies that we can guarantee won’t be too sappy for the boys and won’t be too action-packed for the girls either. (P.S. We didn’t add The Notebook to the list for a reason!)
1. Mr and Mrs Smith
On the surface, John and Jane are a regular, average couple who lead a fairly boring life. But behind each other’s backs, they’re highly skilled contract killers who work for competing firms. Things get interesting when the companies send them out to kill each other. This was the movie that made Brad Pitt fall in love with Angelina Jolie, so hey, maybe snuggling up and watching this action-comedy movie is going to do good things for your dating life too.

Mendes is the one woman he just can’t seem to impress though! The movie is all about taking a chance on someone you love and is romantic in an unconventional way. It’s a great date night movie choice because it’s a fun light-hearted watch and who knows, maybe your man can pick up a thing or two on how to treat his woman!
3. When Harry Met Sally
A guy and girl being “just friends”? Is that even possible? This 1989 Meg Ryan starrer is a classic for a reason. The movie is captivating, honest, and funny. The main characters have frequent run-ins when they’re dating other people but they struggle to admit their own feelings towards each other. The tongue in cheek humour that this movie employs is what keeps it from becoming too sappy.
4. Just Married
Ashton Kutcher and the late Brittany Murphy star in this hilarious movie that reminds us that love, marriage, and relationships, they’re not as rosy as they seem on the surface. After getting to know each other for a brief period of time, Sarah and Tom decide to get married, only for a string of disasters to follow them when they set out to honeymoon across Europe.
5. 50 First Dates
50 first dates stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and it’s a reminder of the efforts we have to put in to sustain a relationship. In the movie drew Barrymore is a patient of short term memory loss every morning when she wakes up, she can’t remember what happened the day before this leads to Adam Sandler taking her out on literal 50 first dates and getting to know her every single day.
6. Knight and Day
Knight and Day is an out and out action films with elements of humour and romance thrown into the mix. the movie stars Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz and it’s a high octane Spy movie which is highly entertaining from start to finish. if your man loves action movies or if you love action movies you can be sure that you will not be bored for even a minute while watching this movie.
7. Back to the future
A great way to mix update night is to watch movies that are not necessarily romantic. Throwing science fiction into the mix is a great way to spice things
up. back to the future is the great movie because even though it’s a science fiction movie it doesn’t get too technical. It still has elements of humour romance comedy and drama in it making it the perfect mix for when you just need a quiet night in to cuddle with bae.
8. Yours, mine and ours
Marriages and relationships are complicated. In this movie it shows us just how complicated things can get when you throw kids into the mix. The two partners who marry each other in this movie comes with a set of 5 and 6 children each. naturally the kids don’t like it other but the Chaos they create when they decide to get together to make their parents break up is what makes the movie so fun and entertaining.
